Advise Needed

To Whomever Has Some Answers

Blogging is relatively new to me. I would like to know so many things but have so little blogging knowledge. Right now my biggest concern is how can I change my present blogging e-mail address to a different one. I have clicked on every part of my blog account to see where I could change it but I found nothing. Will I have to start under a new name? Help! Help! Help!

A second question that is not so important to me is: Do some of you pay to get more features available? For example, I haven't found a way to successfully link to other sites like some of you do.

If anyone can advise me especially on that first question, I will be grateful.

Oleteach, to answer your first question, you should click on My Account in your right sidebar. One of the options that should appear is Edit Stardock.net Account Information. Click on this. It may ask you to verifry your sign in information (your present email and password). It will show you a page labeled My Account Management and should start you off on the vital stats page. On this page, you can edit many of the fields, but email is not one of them. You need to click on the Option tab (located right next to the Vital Stats tab). You may need to verify your sign in information one more time. On the page that appears, you can change your email and your password.

For your second question, I don't think the pay features have been opened up yet. Some people that have higer levels of access (greywar for example) were bumped by the admins, I think. They have different editing tools available to them when commenting or creating a blog article, I think, also. For me, if I want to put a link into my articles, I use the link button and it appears as an underlined LINK in the text. Some people are able to make links appear in the form of other texts. This is something that can be done if you use an exterior html editor for posting (and then cut and paste into the JU article window) or can be done if you know the code. I don't, so I'm stuck with a bunch of LINKs in my text.

Well, here is a quick and dirty HTML lesson for placing links wherever you want in an article. I will insert one in text for fun.

Blahblah blah blah blhalbhalbla (a href="http://www.theurlofthesitehere.com")The Name I want for the link all goes here(/a) blah blah blah blah blah.

Now, the most important thing to do is to change every ( to a < and every ) to a >. Had I used the < and > it would have show up as an actual link and you wouldn't have seen any of the code. Really putting that code in looks like this:

Blahblah blah blah blhalbhalbla The Name I want for the link all goes here blah blah blah blah blah.

Okay, very, oh so slightly advanced tip here. In the first tag (the part with the http:// crap in it) after the second quotation mark around the site address put a space and then target="_blank" and then put the > right on the end and your link will open up in a new page. I always do that in my articles so folks don't have to use the back button. Just a personal preference.

Glad it helped chiprj. If it doesn't seem to be working for you let me know. I don't know much HTML myself, but have found some good tutorials on the web and have played around a bit. It has been a lot of fun.

You may need to verify your sign in information one more time. On the page that appears, you can change your email and your password.

why is it that I can never get past this part...I keep entering it and it keeps bringing me straight back to the "verify your email and password" page again...am I just stupid?

I had that problem, too. Sometimes, I've found, JU doesn't like you to have it running in multiple browser windows. Try closing all but one browser window and try it again. As an added option, also try logging out and back into JU once you have the one browser window open.
